It’s Fun to Step Outside Your Comfort Zone!
The Adventure Recreation program – part of the programming offered by Cleveland State Campus Recreation Services – is designed to take participants outside the walls of the Rec Center to experience recreation opportunities available in Northeast Ohio and our neighboring cities and states. Despite being situated in an urban, downtown setting, there are plenty of areas and opportunities close by to take advantage.
All our trips and clinics are open to CSU students, Rec Center Members AND the Cleveland community. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to join in the fun! And for most trips, the gear and equipment needed is provided for you – it’s as easy as showing up! Check out our Adventure Trips and Instructional Clinics pages to sign up today!

Adventure Workshops
Our Adventure workshops are the perfect way to learn a new skill or perfect the ones you already have – either way, they’re a blast! And in the comfort of our very own CSU Rec Center. Adventure Workshops are open to anyone and everyone and all equipment is provided.
Tube Float down the river
Join us as we drive down to Cuyahoga Falls to cool down on a hot summer day by floating down the River! It is the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors and beat the heat. Float the River company will provide the tubes and do all the heavy lifting. Come take a peaceful glide out on the water as it pushes you down the Cuyahoga.
COST: $25.00 per person
*Includes your tube and transportation from the Rec Center

kAYAK RIVER CLEAN UP WITH TRASHFISH_cLE
Description: We will be heading to Merwins Wharf to meet up with Trashfish_CLE for kayaking and cleaning up the Cuyahoga River! This is a great way to experience paddling on the Cuyahoga while doing a good deed. Tons of litter and plastic get into the water system every year. Help us keep our waterways clean in a fun and exciting way! Meet us at 1785 Merwin Ave at 1:30pm.

Horticulture tours
Join Tour lead, Tropical Tim for a Horticulture Tour around campus. During this walk, you will learn about different types of plants on campus led by the person who knows them best, Tim!
Rain or Shine – we will walk!
We will meet at different starting points for each date in order to see all of campus!

Open paddle dates
Open paddle in our pool is the perfect place to try or practice stand up paddle boarding and/or kayaking! CSU students join for free! All equipment is included. Our certified paddling instructors will be there to help you hone your paddling skills, learn some new ones, or just have some fun on the water!
Please arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time or the instructor will leave the area.
**PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED! CLASSES WITH 0 PEOPLE ENROLLED 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START WILL BE CANCELLED.

Adventure Rec Trips
Our Adventure Rec trips are an awesome way to get out of the gym, be active with other adventurous people and have a blast! And you don’t have to have any prior experience to join any of our trips – EVERYONE from beginners to experts are welcome and encouraged to participate. Most, if not all, equipment is provided so all you have to do is sign up and show up! Check out our upcoming trips below but don’t wait too long – trips can fill up fast!
